Monday, I joined the graduates of the College of Medicine – Phoenix for my first Commencement ceremony as UA president, and this Friday, nearly 4,500 students will come to Arizona Stadium to receive their degrees in front of almost 43,000 friends and family.
 

The strong partnership between the University of Arizona and Banner Health is transforming health care in our state and region and establishing a new paradigm for precision medicine.

Please join me in congratulating Kimberly Andrews Espy on the news that she has been selected as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
 

I want to congratulate Sarah Sellers on her extraordinary achievement in earning second place in the Boston Marathon over the weekend.
 

Dr. Dake will be responsible for providing innovative, inspiring and financially responsible leadership in the strategic integration of undergraduate and graduate education, research, service and clinical activities among the UA Health Sciences colleges, centers and clinical affiliates.

I am disappointed that our DACA students will no longer qualify for the tuition rate that their resident classmates pay. In conjunction with the Arizona Board of Regents, we will comply with the ruling and support our DACA students to continue their education at the UA.

I am very excited to share the news that the University of Arizona has been named a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the U.S. Department of Education. Earning this important designation has required the efforts of many people across campus for several years, and I am grateful for their hard work.
