Please join me in congratulating Tony Proudfoot who has accepted a position as Vice President for Marketing and Strategic Communication at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. There, he will be responsible for repositioning the university to compete at a national level. He graciously has agreed to stay at the UA through June 22.
Tony has done a tremendous job in advancing the University of Arizona brand as Interim Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications and as Associate Vice President of Marketing and Brand Management during his tenure:
- Aligning marketing professionals across main campus and the health sciences toward brand messaging and positioning through collaborative efforts like UA Creative and the development of brand platforms for most of the colleges
- Creating a one-of-a-kind branding conference, The One Conference, attended annually by 225 UA professionals
- Partnering with the Secretary of the University in the development of the University’s Operational and Financial Review presentation to our governing board, the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR)
- Generating the first marketing plan for Banner University Medical Division through a cross-functional team of marketers and communicators across the University and Banner Health
Tony has cultivated an environment where marketing and communications professionals throughout the UA's ecosystem have the support, community and tools they need to be successful in their roles. His collaborative style has advanced the University and its platform and we appreciate his foresight. Please join me in congratulating Tony and wishing him well in this new opportunity.
