Budget Update and Leadership Appointments

Yesterday, the University shared with the Arizona Board of Regents the most recent budget planning assumptions for the new fiscal year starting July 1. Based on these assumptions, we are currently projecting a significant improvement of our fiscal position aligned with our goal to close the deficit within two years, as outlined in our financial action plan.

Thank you all for your dedication and adaptability as we work to further improve the institution’s financial health.

UArizona is ranked No. 93 in the 2024 Center for World University Rankings. The university is ranked 48th among U.S. institutions and 26th among public colleges and universities.

Actor and University of Arizona alumnus Craig T. Nelson delivered the university's Commencement address and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts. He told graduates he is "deeply moved" by what they accomplished amid the challenges their class faced over the past four years.

UArizona's Marcia Rieke wins $500,000 Gruber Cosmology Prize

May 9, 2024

The award recognizes Regents Professor Rieke's work in infrared astronomy. Rieke led the development of the James Webb Space Telescope's Near Infrared Camera.

This Friday, May 10, we will celebrate the Class of 2024 with the University of Arizona’s 160th Commencement. I look forward to this night every year, as we come together to send our graduates on to the next steps in their lives and careers.

We have been through a lot as a community over the past four years, and I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to this graduating class, as well as all of our students, faculty, and staff. Thank you for your resilience and your commitment to our shared values, to your aspirations and to each other.
