UArizona named a top Peace Corps volunteer-producing school

UArizona ranks No. 15 among large schools on the Peace Corps' list of colleges and universities that produced the most volunteers between 2003 and 2023. Since the Peace Corps' founding in 1961, more than 1,720 UArizona alumni have served abroad as volunteers.

UArizona receives $3M for retention and career prep programs for Hispanic students

The grant, from the U.S. Department of Education's Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program, will fund activities focused on the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, including a student internship program, first-year writing curriculum and faculty fellowships.

UArizona announces new mobile crisis team, University Safety website

The University of Arizona announced the creation of a new mobile crisis team with the goal of deescalating tense situations and providing mental health services, an expanded keyless building entry program and campuswide safety exercises during President Robert C. Robbins virtual University Safety Briefing on Friday.

Michael Tubbs, once the youngest mayor of a major American city, to address UArizona graduates at Commencement

April 27, 2023

Michael Tubbs was 26 years old when he was elected mayor of Stockton, California, in 2016, making him the youngest mayor of a major American city and Stockton's first African American mayor. Tubbs will give the keynote address at the university's Commencement ceremony on May 12.

UArizona ranks 29 among top 100 universities granted US utility patents in 2022

UArizona inventors were issued 92 patents in 2022 for innovations that included a technique for imaging cancer cells, a wearable 3D augmented reality display and an antioxidant sunscreen.
