Welcome Home, Wildcats!

Aug. 23, 2018

Dear Wildcats,

Welcome to the fall 2018 semester at the University of Arizona. I hope you had a wonderful summer and that you are ready for a fantastic year.

This fall, we are privileged to welcome more than 10,000 of you to our campus as students for the first time. I’m also proud to say our total student body represents all 50 states, 120 countries and every county in Arizona, and more than 31% of this year's freshman class are first-generation students.

Each of you brings distinct experiences and a unique background that will enrich our community, and each of you has a responsibility to sustain this community by being helpful, supportive and respectful. In turn, all the faculty and staff are here to help you succeed. If you need anything, please reach out so that we can help you thrive.

Your success is so important to us that the student experience is the first pillar of our new strategic plan. We are committed to ensuring Wildcat graduates lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution — a time of augmented intelligence and the fusion of our digital, physical and biological worlds. And the experience of building the plan has been as important as the plan itself because it has been driven by nearly 10,000 UA students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters. Look forward to this new plan in November and seeing results as early as the fall semester, 2019.

I know this will be an incredible year and I am grateful to share in this journey with you. I look forward to learning about your success on our campuses across Arizona, the world and online.

Bear Down!
