Update on National Search for SVP for Academic Affairs & Provost

Aug. 16, 2018

Dear UA Community,

In May, I announced the search for the University of Arizona’s next Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, chaired by Dr. Carol Barnes and Mr. Gregg Goldman. I am pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Dake, the UA's Senior Vice President for Health Sciences, will step into the role of co-chair and lead the search with Dr. Barnes as Mr. Goldman moves to his new role as Vice Chancellor and CFO at UCLA in October.

As the senior leader overseeing our five Health Sciences colleges, Dr. Dake works very closely with the provost. His partnership with our selected candidate will be critically important as we implement the new strategic plan, especially in the continued integration of undergraduate and graduate education with the research, service and clinical activities of the Health Sciences colleges, centers and clinical affiliates.

Dr. Dake will work with Mr. Goldman to transition the role of co-chair, and I look forward to Drs. Dake and Barnes leading a strong process going forward this academic year. I also want to thank Mr. Goldman for his service and for helping set a strong foundation for a successful search.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Robbins
President
The University of Arizona
