Letter to Campus Regarding the Strategic Plan

Jan. 12, 2018

Dear University of Arizona Community,

For more than 130 years, the University of Arizona has been a leader. From research achievements and quality academic programs to economic impact and service to the community, our university ranks among the best in higher education.

Today, we are poised to lead innovations in health, big data and the environment to name a few. We’re in a position to enable more dynamic and democratic human interaction in an increasingly digital world.

Shortly after I became president of the University of Arizona, I began talking about the need for us to work together, in a spirit of inclusivity and transparency, to create a strategic plan that will serve as the roadmap for our future.

I have asked Elliott Cheu and Lisa Ordóñez to lead the planning process on behalf of the university, and am incredibly grateful for their leadership in this important initiative.

We already have a strong foundation, thanks in large part to remarkable faculty, staff, students, alumni and supporters.

I'm encouraging each of you to take your contributions a step farther by engaging in important conversations about the future of the University of Arizona. Over the next months, we will be asking you to share your questions, ideas, hopes and dreams for a university that will continue to lead in a changing world.

These discussions will help define the common ground and uniting goals that will be pillars of our strategic plan. We’re all in this together, and we will be learning from you how we can focus our strengths to have the greatest impact.

Please continue to visit this website to share your input and receive information about opportunities to engage, upcoming sessions, and updates on our progress.

Thank you for all you do on behalf of the University of Arizona.
