Senior VP for Health Sciences
The University of Arizona invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Senior Vice President for Health Sciences.
The University of Arizona is one of the country's preeminent research institutions providing leadership and operational excellence in health and biomedical research, teaching, patient care and community service. Under the new leadership of President Ann Weaver Hart, the UA's health sciences and related clinical enterprise reflect a renewed priority of expanding research, education and clinical innovation of the highest quality.
The SVP for Health Sciences reports to the UA President, works in close partnership with the Provost, the CEO of the University of Arizona Health Network and others, and has direct reports including the Deans of the Colleges of Medicine (Tucson and Phoenix), Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health.
The UA seeks a collaborative, entrepreneurial, accomplished and courageous leader to build upon the UA's strong educational, clinical and research foundation and to lead the institution's academic health enterprise to aspirational levels of global achievement. The new SVP will have the opportunity to contribute in a strategically significant and meaningful way to the health and well-being of the citizens of Arizona and throughout the Southwest.
The successful candidate will possess outstanding health sciences credentials, including MD, PhD or equivalent degree, board certification as applicable; a distinguished record in clinical/translational research and teaching; substantial administrative leadership, preferably in a research and clinically successful university; demonstrated achievement in recruitment; proven success in external fund development; credentials that merit appointment at the rank of full professor; and a broad understanding of national health policy and future challenges to academic health sciences. Above all, candidates are expected to present a demonstrated track record of success and collaboration, leading through times of growth and change.
