I am pleased to share information with you about an important new tool created to measurably improve Southern Arizona through data driven collective civic action and education.
The MAP (Making Action Possible) Dashboard provides users with data about the region’s progress, as well as access to the latest information and research on a broad range of issues related to Southern Arizona's economy and quality of life. This important online resource will help business leaders, government officials and the public make better-informed decisions for their communities. The MAP is a reality thanks to a collaborative effort between the UA Eller Economic Business and Research Center, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and the Southern Arizona Leadership Council.
The MAP provides data in six categories:
- Health and social well-being
- Quality of place
The MAP also compares Southern Arizona communities to other Western U.S. states and national data, providing users the opportunity to see what Arizona is doing well, and where there are areas for improvement.
I would like to recognize Jennifer Pullen, project manager and analyst for the MAP, and George Hammond, director of the UA's Eller Economic and Business Research Center, for leading the UA's participation in this innovative effort.
This effort is a wonderful example of the UA's commitment to serving the state of Arizona. Please join me in congratulating all those involved in making this project a great success.
