Executive Office of the President
Call for Nominations: Senior Vice President for Research
|FROM:||President Ann Weaver Hart|
|DATE:||December 2, 2013|
|SUBJECT:||Call for Nominations: Senior Vice President for Research|
As many of you know, my office has initiated a search for several leadership positions within the University of Arizona’s administration. These searches are being run by search committees that I have appointed in consultation with leaders from across campus and which include members from a variety of UA constituent groups. Last week’s Lo Que Pasa included a story about the four recruitment efforts, which can be found athttp://uaatwork.arizona.edu/lqp/searches-senior-leaders-now-underway.
I am writing today to call for nominations to assist in one of these important searches. The new Senior Vice President for Research will be an important member of the University’s leadership team, and it is vital that we secure the best possible candidate with proven experience, talent, and leadership ability. The UA is fortunate to have many faculty members who lead large-scale and multi-investigator research operations here in Arizona and around the world. Our faculty also collaborate with premier researchers, research administrators and funding agencies across the U.S. and internationally. With this in mind, it is only appropriate that our search include candidates from within our community and external candidates nominated by faculty and staff.
The position has been advertised at https://chroniclevitae.com/jobs/0000805481-01. I encourage you to review it and to forward qualified candidates to the search firm that is coordinating this process, R. William Funk & Associates email@example.com. Applications and nominations will be accepted until the position is filled, but the search committee has set a deadline of December 31 for optimal consideration.
This is an exciting opportunity for an academic leader who will be at the center of the UA’s efforts to enact the research component of the Never Settle academic and business plan that I and campus leadership presented to the Arizona Board of Regents late last month. As this and other administrative searches move forward, I will keep all of you apprised of our progress. Thank you for sending any nominees that you believe are qualified, and thank you for your service to the University.
